The situation escalated rapidly between 6:30 AM and 6:45 AM after two passenger trains arrived back-to-back at the local halt, discharging thousands of additional pilgrims directly into the already overflowing queue lines. Eyewitness accounts and district officials indicate that a cable-bearing utility pole collapsed near the men's queue section, sparking immediate panic and unfounded rumors that a high-voltage live wire had fallen onto the crowd.
