In a shocking incident that has raised serious concerns over law and order in Uttar Pradesh, the ninety-five-year-old mother of a senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officer was found dead inside her residence in Ambedkar Nagar district, with her gold jewellery reportedly missing. The deceased, identified as Indrawati, lived alone in Rudha Dhamrua village under the jurisdiction of the Malipur police station following the demise of her husband, a retired government inter-college principal. Her son, IPS officer Ashutosh Mishra, who is currently stationed in Lucknow, rushed to the ancestral home after receiving word of the tragedy and formally lodged a complaint alleging robbery and murder against unidentified perpetrators.
The grim discovery was made around nine in the morning when a domestic worker arrived at the house to perform routine chores and found the elderly woman lying motionless on a cot. The worker immediately raised an alarm, alerting nearby villagers and local authorities who quickly secured the scene. Preliminary findings revealed that while the interior of the house was not ransacked and other household belongings remained intact, valuable gold jewellery including a necklace chain, earrings, a nose pin, and anklets were missing from her body.
