Following the findings, authorities invoked Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) guidelines to immediately halt operations at the site. Formal notices were issued to the facility operators, and the state department recommended initiating legal proceedings before an adjudicating officer. Addressing the shutdown, a Zepto representative stated that the firm cooperated with inspectors during the visit and is moving quickly to address all cited issues, emphasizing its ongoing effort to enforce strict health and safety standards across its fulfillment network.
The action against the Hoskote location comes amid a broader regulatory push across Bengaluru, where officials are expanding scrutiny beyond traditional dining establishments to include central kitchens, warehouses, and rapid-delivery hubs. Recent sweeps across the city have turned up expired inventory, improper cold-chain storage, and sanitation issues at several commercial locations. As India's instant-delivery sector expands, public health authorities are tightening oversight to ensure high fulfillment speeds do not compromise food safety and consumer standards.
