Security protocols surrounding former Indian cricket captain and ex-BCCI President Sourav Ganguly have been swiftly heightened following a series of alarming death threats targeting the legendary sportsman and his family. A formal police complaint was lodged at the Thakurpukur Police Station in Kolkata after an explicit letter written in English arrived at Ganguly’s office, threatening to eliminate the former cricketer, his wife Dona Ganguly, and members of his personal staff.

According to representatives close to the Ganguly family, similar threatening communications had been trickling in over the past six months, but they were initially brushed off as harmless fan mail or baseless pranks. However, the increasingly aggressive tone and explicit nature of the latest correspondence forced his management team to alert law enforcement authorities and state security agencies immediately.

While the Special Branch assesses potential risks, security measures around Ganguly’s residence in Behala are being thoroughly reviewed to ensure complete protection for the high-profile family.

The disturbing escalation comes at a time when Ganguly remains an influential figure in Indian sports administration and public life, currently serving as the president of the Cricket Association of Bengal.
