Mumbai Biker Riddhi Thakkar Dies in Fatal Hit-and-Run on Chhattisgarh Highway

A 24-year-old female motorcyclist from Mumbai lost her life on Wednesday morning following a tragic hit-and-run collision on National Highway 30 in Chhattisgarh's Balod district. The victim, identified as Riddhi Divyesh Thakkar from Borivali West, was participating in a group expedition with around twenty fellow bikers traveling from Raipur toward the scenic Bastar region.

The fatal incident occurred around 6:00 AM in the winding turns of Markatola Ghat under the jurisdiction of the Purur police station, approximately 100 kilometers from the state capital.

According to local authorities, an unidentified heavy vehicle crashed into Thakkar's Bajaj Avenger motorcycle and sped away from the scene immediately after impact without stopping to render assistance. Distressed members of the biking convoy quickly alerted emergency responders through the Dial 112 helpline. An emergency medical team initially transported the critically injured rider to the Charama Community Health Centre in nearby Kanker district.

As her physical condition worsened due to severe injuries, she was rushed to a private hospital in Dhamtari district, where she ultimately succumbed during treatment later that morning.

Law enforcement officials headed by Balod Superintendent of Police Kiran Chavan have initiated a search operation to locate the fleeing vehicle and identify the driver. Police teams are examining local highway surveillance footage and gathering statements from participating riders who witnessed the collision.

The tragic event has sent shockwaves through the regional biking community and drawn renewed public attention to persistent road safety hazards and heavy traffic enforcement along busy highway corridors across the state.
