A 24-year-old female motorcyclist from Mumbai lost her life on Wednesday morning following a tragic hit-and-run collision on National Highway 30 in Chhattisgarh's Balod district.
The fatal incident occurred around 6:00 AM in the winding turns of Markatola Ghat under the jurisdiction of the Purur police station, approximately 100 kilometers from the state capital.
According to local authorities, an unidentified heavy vehicle crashed into Thakkar's Bajaj Avenger motorcycle and sped away from the scene immediately after impact without stopping to render assistance.
As her physical condition worsened due to severe injuries, she was rushed to a private hospital in Dhamtari district, where she ultimately succumbed during treatment later that morning.
Law enforcement officials headed by Balod Superintendent of Police Kiran Chavan have initiated a search operation to locate the fleeing vehicle and identify the driver.
