Former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan was transferred back to Rawalpindi's Adiala Jail after spending a brief period undergoing medical examinations at Shifa International Hospital in Islamabad. The 73-year-old PTI founder had been moved to the medical facility following directives from the Supreme Court of Pakistan to evaluate ongoing health concerns, including an eye ailment.
Despite initial suggestions that his hospital stay could last until his upcoming court hearing in mid-September, authorities returned him to prison shortly after the check-ups were completed. The hospital visit followed recent court orders addressing his confinement conditions and visitation rights, which recently allowed him in-person meetings with his wife, Bushra Bibi, and his sister, Noreen Niazi, after nearly nine months of restricted contact.
Khan, who was removed from office in 2022 and has remained incarcerated since August 2023 facing several legal convictions, continues to retain significant political backing across the country.
