India’s leading private sector steel producer, JSW Steel, has delivered a stellar financial performance for the second quarter of fiscal year 2027, powered by all-time high delivery volumes and robust domestic consumption. In a comprehensive regulatory filing submitted to stock exchanges, the flagship company of the diversified JSW Group revealed an extraordinary three-fold surge in consolidated net profit, reaching five thousand three hundred and fifty-nine crore rupees for the quarter ending September. The remarkable bottom-line expansion represents a dramatic transformation compared to the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year, when the manufacturing powerhouse recorded a net profit of one thousand six hundred and forty-six crore rupees, reflecting sharp operating efficiency and steady market penetration despite broader macroeconomic crosscurrents.
The explosive growth in profitability was primarily underpinned by strong topline momentum across key industrial categories. Consolidated total income for the July–September period climbed significantly to fifty-four thousand nine hundred and twenty-seven crore rupees, advancing from forty-five thousand four hundred and thirty-six crore rupees logged during the identical quarter last year. Revenue derived directly from core operational activities stood firmly at fifty-four thousand four hundred and eighty-six crore rupees. The sustained rise in turnover demonstrates the company's ability to maintain healthy capacity utilization across its integrated steel facilities while catering directly to nationwide infrastructure projects, commercial real estate developments, and capital goods manufacturing.
Operational throughput attained historical highs during the quarter under review, setting fresh milestones across production and distribution networks. Consolidated steel sales volume touched an unprecedented peak of seven point four six million tonnes, demonstrating a solid thirteen percent year-on-year growth and an even sharper nineteen percent quarter-on-quarter acceleration. The company benefited extensively from a deliberate focus on high-margin product categories. Deliveries of flat steel products and value-added special products reached historic levels, posting year-on-year growth rates of sixteen percent and eleven percent, respectively. The emphasis on advanced engineering grades has enabled the steelmaker to protect its realizations and cultivate deep customer relationships across core industrial sectors.
Domestic demand conditions served as the principal anchor for the enterprise's exceptional volumetric performance. Local sales within the Indian market reached a record six point two nine million tonnes, expanding by twelve percent year-on-year and jumping eighteen percent on a sequential basis. Institutional sales channels performed with notable strength, recording four point one five million tonnes in dispatches, which represents a fifteen percent increase compared to the prior-year period. In particular, demand from the domestic automotive sector expanded at a torrid pace, registering a phenomenal thirty-six percent year-on-year increase. Automakers scaling up vehicle assembly lines ahead of the traditional festive shopping season turned heavily to domestic mills for specialized cold-rolled and galvanized steel coils, significantly boosting JSW Steel's local delivery share.
While domestic absorption absorbed the lion's share of plant dispatches, the organization maintained a steady presence in international trade avenues. Finished steel exports for the quarter stood at zero point nine eight million tonnes, accounting for thirteen percent of total sales volume originated from the company's domestic Indian facilities. Even amid changing global tariffs, regional protective measures, and fluctuating international benchmark prices, the business preserved strategic export outlets to balance inventory flows and sustain seamless continuous-casting runs across its major manufacturing complexes in Bellary, Vijayanagar, and Dolvi.
The steel giant's standalone Indian operations provided the bedrock for overall corporate profitability. Domestically domiciled assets generated operational revenue of fifty thousand one hundred and eighty-eight crore rupees alongside an adjusted earnings before interest, tax, depreciation, and amortization of nine thousand six hundred and thirty-six crore rupees, translating into a solid domestic operating margin of nineteen point two percent. On a consolidated group level, adjusted operating profit touched nine thousand nine hundred and forty-one crore rupees, yielding a healthy operating margin of eighteen point three percent, while reported earnings before interest, tax, depreciation, and amortization settled at ten thousand one hundred and twenty crore rupees. Sequential operating profit improved by six percent, propelled by volume expansion that effectively offset the twin headwinds of elevated coking coal input costs and softened global product realizations.
